Lisina Stoneburner
has been actively coaching actors of all ages since 1991. Primarily working with actors in the Atlanta area since 1996, Lisina has a very direct approach to actors and to teaching. Create a comfortable working environment where the actor feels capable of being vulnerable and aware of their own range of capabilities and then challenging the actor to move beyond the obvious and create new and believable moments that are unique to the audience. Lisina believes that an actor with innate talent can be challenged far beyond what they initially believe they can do and even what they have believed as the truth of their capabilities over many years of career or experience.
"The actor has to remember what they can imagine" is a trademark of Lisina Stoneburner's concept and way of working. Moments, situations and stories are created 99% through the use of the actor's imagination. "The depth of most actor's imaginations is untouched and must be accessed emotionally and physically to find the most unique and interesting of moments." When coaching one on one, Lisina works quickly to get to know the actor and accurately pinpoint what they are bringing instinctually to the work and what they don't remember they have the instinct to do. She then coaches each actor on an individual level that reminds them of what they have to access. Continuing then to show the actor what tools are available through interrogative script analysis and character development as well as preparation techniques that create quality auditions and performances.
Her approach has worked successfully on both kids and adults who work on stage and in front of the camera. She has coached hundreds of actors in preparation for auditions in every medium, she is regularly hired to work with actors on projects to assist in character preparation and development, and is regularly hired as an on-set coach for films and television shows. Our methods and techniques, while based in the teachings of Stanislavski and Stella Adler are a combination of practical work experience and years of training with various instructors and in various styles over the years. The foundation of our system is based in the truth and believability of the characters we create. Our students learn to approach scripts and scenarios from the most imaginative and creative place possible, while bringing their own individual style to a piece. We work on real techniques and skills that bring stories, characters and ideas to life.
